Aquaculture Economics and Marketing

 

Aquaculture Risks and Uncertainties. This section provides information on the effects of risks and uncertainties on the ecomic viabilty of aquaculture production systems.

U.S. Aquaculture Production. This section provides graphical summaries of domestic aquaculture production by species.

Saltwater Shrimp. This section will provide information on saltwater shrimp production and marketing.

Saltwater Baitfish. The overall goal of this project is to develop an economically viable, small-scale production and marketing system capable of providing a year-round supply of live bait, especially during winter months.

Offshore Aquaculture. This section will provide information on the production and marketing of seafood products cultured in offshore aquaculture facilities.

Striped Mullet. This section will provide information on the production of market-size striped mullet in ponds for both meat and roe markets.

Catfish Production. This section provides information on catfish production outside of the delta region of Mississippi, largely associated with the Black Belt area of the state.

Freshwater Prawn. This section provides information on freshwater prawn production and marketing.

Tilapia. This section provides information on tilapia production and marketing.

Crawfish. This section provides information on crawfish production and marketing.

 

Wholesale Fish Prices. This section provides links to summaries of wholesale markets of major aquaculture fish species.

Wholesale Aquaculture Market Report. This report provides information about wholesale markets of catfish, hybrid striped bass, tilapia, oysters and big head carp covering the Pennsylvania, New York, Massachusetts, Maryland and Washington, D.C. markets. The Maryland Aquaculture Office provided the raw data used in preparing this report until July 1998. You may download this report in Adobe Acrobat format.

Aquaculture Producers . This section lists the names and addresses of suppliers of aquaculture products.

Shrimp Prices. This section provides links to summaries of shrimp prices reported by the National Marine Fisheries Service.

 
U.S. Aquaculture Situation and Outlook Reports. This report is prepared by USDA-Economic Reserarch Service twice a year. According to Cornell University-Mann Library, which posts this report under Specialty Agriculture in its website, it examines the U.S. aquaculture industry, including production, inventory, sales, prices, inputs, and trade of catfish, trout, tilapia, salmon, mollusks, crawfish, shrimp, ornamental fish and new species.
 

Coastal and Offshore Aquaculture Research. This section describes the various aquaculture research projects conducted on several species.
